CHILD BIRTH IN VEDIC ASTROLOGY

How do you find out if you will have a child in your life. Child birth in vedic astrology is seen from the 5th house, 9th house, Jupiter, 5th lord, 5th house and 1st house in Satpamsa chart (D7 Chart) and putrakaraka in Jamini astrology. There are quite a few way to see the sex, birth timing and number of children in a horoscope. First thing to look for in assessing the timing of when the child will be born, you have to see which mahadasha you are running. Most common mahadasha that bring child birth are of Jupiter and Moon and lord of 2nd, 4th and 5th house becuase 2nd house is family, 4th house is motherhood and 5th house obviously children. Jupiter is the karaka of children so his mahadasha can easily bring childbirth regardless of where it's placed or which houses it rules. Moon represents motherhood and emotions and Moon mahadasha, too, can bring childbirth regardless of moon's placement and house lordship in the horoscope.

Anytime you run mahadasha of 5th lord or 9th lord planets; this also activates the child birth because 5th is children and 9th house is 5th from the 5th, which becomes the bhavat bhavam concept in vedic astrology, meaning 9th house is the higher self of 5th house. If we narrow it down the child birth must also be looked through the antar dasha which is the sub perioud which runs in a main period (mahadasha). Antar dasha of 2nd, 5th, 9th or of planet sitting in the 5th house can bring child birth. But, one must also look at the most important factor in Jyotish which is divisional charts. Saptamsa chart becomes prominent when trying determine the time of birth. Any planet in the 1st house of D7 chart or 5th house can bring children more than any other period because planet in ascendant of any divisional chart bring something important related to that divisional chart. If one is running through the mahadasha of 10th house in the main birth but if the same planet controls the 5th house or 1st house or is placed in the 1st or 5th house in the D7 chart, then child birth is possible.

Alternative positions:

One of the most important thing people forget is to look at planetary placement and aspect upon the 5th house through alternative ascendants. In Prashara Hora Shastra it's said that one must look at a birth chart from three different angels; from lagna (ascendant) moon and sun. What moon and sun means is that you must make Moon as your ascendant or Sun as your ascendant and see the position of the planets from that respective. Even when you judge major transits of planet on yearly basis you should look at those transits through alternative ascendants.

Another way one can look towards the child birth timing is using chara dasha in Jamini astrology and placement of putrakaraka in the horoscope. Putrakaraka is the planet with 5th highest degree. If during chara dasha a sign in which putrakaraka is sitting then child birth is possible or if putrakaraka goes 5th from the charadasha operating sign, that, too, can activate child birth. However the most important factor in seeing the time of a child to arrive is to see the transit of Jupiter and Saturn.

Jupiter and Saturn play a major rule in deciding some of the most important events in a person's life which also includes child birth and marriage. Anytime when Jupiter and Saturn either are placed in the 5th house or aspect the 5th house together, this is the final trigger in birth of a child. Jupiter and Saturn must look or sit in the 5th house simultaneously either in birth chart or D7 chart. Mahadasha sets the time frame, antar dasha narrows the time frame and Jupiter/Saturn transit triggers the child birth. This analysis was specially done by K.N. Rao in his book "child birth in Vedic Astrology".

Another quick way to see the timing of child birth is the transit of planets that control your 2nd, 5th and 11th house in each other houses. If lords of 2nd, 5th and 11th are transiting together in 2nd, 5th and 11th house, regardless of which house, this can trigger child birth if the mahadasha approves.

What about denial of children in one's life?

Yes, there are many combination which denies children in a person's chart. These combination must also be present in divisional charts along with birth chart. But this topic is extremely sensitive especially for a woman, since it's the woman's chart that mainly denies or gives child birth. For those who do not have children and want to have children, reading about the negative combination will only lower your spirit, and I don't want to be the cause of your depression. This is why I will not discuss those combinations.

This article was inspired by birth of my daugther, my first child: Promila Lennon Raaj. You are truly a gift in my life.
